Gerard Gallagher Musically, it's a fantastic, more than competent Ska record that I could listen to at thousand times over, but lyrically....Lyrically, it's an articulate, eloquent statement of observation of our times, but also a manifesto for the level of humanity that we should all aspire to. A firm favourite from quality ambassadors for the people of Belfast City. Maith Sibh. One Love!

V1)There’s a growing sentiment tonight on The Belfast streets. The people are sick of the violence, hands up!who wants to live in peace? But there seems to be that chosen few practiced In the mantra of bigotry.More brainwashed fools With the devils tools thinking murder will set them free. Chorus It’s the tone of the times. It’s the sound of our streets. There’s a heartbeat oh so sweet Beneath the painted concrete. We all have a backbone, We all have a choice. We all share the same problems Why not share the same voice? V2)Fear rules the town with the knife and the Gun,with the youths marking territory. Life’s too high a price when the gun owns The mic and the message gets spread like disease. There’s safety in gangs if you have not a spine A no-respect stepping dread on the street. Is there love to be found out in east London Now or in the terrified communities. Chorus It’s the tone of the times. It’s the sound of our streets. There’s a heartbeat oh so sweet Beneath the painted concrete. We all have a backbone, We all have a choice. We all share the same problems Why not share the same voice

True Skin 03:44
V1)From the halcyon days of 69 With the sound of Jamaica came the Skinhead style. Way back in the days of the Reggae dance craze. The Rudeboys and girls they would dance and sing. Chorus The True skin Loves wine, loves women, loves song. He’s got a heart like a lion and a champion. He’s a working class man who’s roots are held strong He’s got a heart like a lion and a champion. V2)He’s looking SHARP in Sta-prest and Tonic suits. In his crisp Ben Sherman and DM boots. So all you boneheads sling your hook. Sure “you don’t belong were you don’t have roots”! Chorus The True skin Loves wine, loves women, loves song. He’s got a heart like a lion and a champion. He’s a working class man who’s roots are held strong He’s got a heart like a lion and a champion. “The Skin exudes style from his head to his feet. He likes a bit of OI! And a Rocksteady beat. He’s likes a few pints come Friday night and a Bit of a rumble if the reasons are right. You see its not about Race, its not about creed. So keep your politics of our dance floor please. The skin he loves wine, loves women, loves song He’s got a heart like a lion and a champion.”

V1)A woman past her prime but she’s still Spoilt rotten. She’s just bitter cos she thinks She’s been forgotten. Something still shining inside of her eye’s. Her mischief just comes in an older disguise. Chorus She’s never happy, Keeps on staring daggers at me. She’s never happy, no, no, no. Sally never wants what she gets V2)Back in her youth she would get her own way. 50 years on she’s still set in her ways. Now she’s cursing at me cos she don’t Like my meal. She could not care less for the way that I feel. Chorus She’s never happy, Keeps on staring daggers at me. She’s never happy, no, no, no. Sally never wants what she gets V3)I wish that I knew her way back in her prime. To see her impatience grow with the time. To find out what it takes to make this girl smile And to dry up the tears of the old crocodile. Chorus She’s never happy, Keeps on staring daggers at me. She’s never happy, no, no, no. Sally never wants what she gets

V1)10,000 “I love you’s” Will not keep the wolf from the door. You might be one in a million but I am Still broke and still poor. You call me a rough diamond. All I got is my rhythm and rhymes. I aint no bread winning When we’re living in austerity’s Time. Chorus Said girl we gotta make it on through With what we got make it good. I’m asking are we alone? Somebody throw me a Somebody throw me a bone. V2)10,000 I.O.U’S Working ten years in a job that you hate A decade of reckless no saving. I find it hard to put food on the plate. And you could hardly call me frivolous For Friday night I’ll be king at the bar. Waking up Saturday morning wondering Why my wages never go far. Chorus Said girl we gotta make it on through With what we got make it good. I’m asking are we alone? Somebody throw me a Somebody throw me a bone. V3)10,000 Spent tickets, Broken visions of a lottery win. All the money I’ve wasted It’s never gonna stop us dreaming. To you and me that matters is We’ve got what we need to get by. There’s no talking to the grown-up children who haven’t put a little aside.

Plight 05:32
V1)And if you come from all walks of life, Put your hand in mine brother we will make it alright. He’s come to my country to better himself But some try to make it an intolerant Hell. My poorest of brothers he comes here alone Seeking menial labour so far from his home. He works minimum wage every hour he can get. Harassment comes daily. He just wants to forget. Chorus This is the plight of the immigrant. We all want our rights in this world. Why for them is it different. A flag is just a rag. A borders just a line That constantly reminds us Of our ignorance. V2) “They’re taking our jobs” that’s all that you say While you sit on your bone idle arse everyday. Well how would you feel just to walk in his shoes. When the only English you know is just racist abuse. My poorest of brothers he comes here alone. To earn a little money for his family back home. He’s waiting on tables he’s cleaning your streets. He breaks his back at his job just to be called a thief. Chorus This is the plight of the immigrant. We all want our rights in this world. Why for them is it different. A flag is just a rag. A borders just a line That constantly reminds us Of our ignorance.

V1)Do you want to get stoned? Do you like to get high? It just so happens I know a guy, who no joke He loves to breathe smoke. Do you remember that first ever spliff? It came before your first ever kiss and no joke You fell in love with the smoke. Chorus So fill up a bowl and we will get stoned in due course. If you want to get high You’re looking for the man they call HORSE! V2)So when you’re craving that sweet Collie weed. He’ll fix you up, give you just what you need And no joke that bong makes you choke. So roll a spliff for the herbalist man. Who rid the nation of irritation ,no joke So pass around the toke. Chorus So fill up a bowl and we will get stoned in due course. If you want to get high You’re looking for the man they call HORSE!

29 Years 02:49
V1)For 29 years I have walked these streets. I have seen injustice I have seen the pain. We all live under the shadow of a gun On an island alone in an ocean of blood. I find some attitudes don't change….. Chorus Hate still remains. Brooding beneath The surface, coursing throughout Old veins. There’s no peace there’s Trust there’s no purpose. The cycle of blame starts again With state sponsored mass executions. The working man is just a pawn in the game. Ignorance come inherit our children And it’s a new generation engrained. There goes another doomed generation. V2)For 29 years I have heard excuses For why people lay dead in our streets. I have heard the arguments of who is right And wrong in a city fit to blow like a ticking time bomb. This is Belfast city not Babylon… Chorus Hate still remains. Brooding beneath The surface, coursing throughout Old veins. There’s no peace there’s Trust there’s no purpose. The cycle of blame starts again With state sponsored mass executions. The working man is just a pawn in the game. Ignorance come inherit our children And it’s a new generation engrained.

V1)For a week I went down to old London town To play a gig and watch Social D. We met a few pals down by Camden canal And these boys hooked us up with some weed. Horse didn’t know the score,he aint smoked that shit Before and now he’s lying passed out on the street. The taxi wont take him cos he’s such a fuckin mess It’s not the first time I’ve seen him whitey. Chorus A.G.G.R.E.S.S.O.R.S The officer be looking at me. Committed no crime but he’s got me in his sights Watching me crossing the street. Out of all the days it had to be today When I’m carrying this bag of weed. The cop he gets his kicks as I stand there Shitting bricks. Passing people passing Judgement on me. V2)I put the Horse on course to the airport Via bus and I take from him what’s left of the weed. I’m heading straight on down to old Camden town For a couple of pints with ‘Big C’. I’ve got my headphones on I don’t know what’s Going on but there’s Peelers all over the street And with my bloodshot eyes it really came as no surprise That they wanna have a word with me! Chorus A.G.G.R.E.S.S.O.R.S The officer be looking at me. Committed no crime but he’s got me in his sights Watching me crossing the street. V3)I protest “I haven’t time”but he puts me back in line With the snarling canine at his feet. “Prepare to be searched sir” he said now with a grin. I throw my hands up and say “OFFICER PLEASE! Before we begin I would like to confess that I be carrying some boss Sensei” He looked me in the eye said he would have it legalised And I could score some more weed up the street. A.G.G.R.E.S.S.O.R.S The officer be looking at me A.G.G.R.E.S.S.O.R.S Rudeboy inna London city A.G.G.R.E.S.S.O.R.S The officer be looking at me. A.G.G.R.E.S.S.O.R.S Escaping by the skin of my teeth.

Hope. 04:48
V1)Cowards come in the dead of the night. In the name of all that’s good and white. With sticks and stones they smash much more than glass. Chorus They smash our Hope All hope is lost Here in Belfast. V2)The estates are fertile ground if you’re Looking for home grown hate. To terrorise the innocent has always been The order of the day anyway. Can we stop from making excuses, Pointing the finger and placing the blame. Chorus They smash our Hope All hope is lost Here in Belfast. V3)They’ve started sowing the seeds. There’s a vacumn left to fill. My people can’t hold up their heads Because the bigotry’s there still. There’s nothing more dangerous than An unenlightened working class. Chorus They smash our Hope All hope is lost Here in Belfast. V4)You’ve come to the wrong place if you’re Looking for sanctuary. You’ll find only the ghost of a chance In the city were the blind can see. Who would want to immigrate To an island full of hate. Chorus They smash our Hope All hope is lost Here in Belfast. Don’t look for the colour Find the person, find the friend. WEED THEM OUT And give us hope here in Belfast Embrace new cultures At least try to comprehend. WEED THEM OUT And give us hope here in Belfast Lets build one bonfire To burn all the hatred and bigotry WEED THEM OUT And give us hope here in Belfast. Build a strength and attitude that’s fit for the world that’s fit for the world to see.

V1)Monday morning and the work bell rings And I would give just anything for five more minutes In my bed Or to be a millionaire instead. So its off to the grindstone that I go. Monday to Friday it’s the same old show And I have worked my hands to the bone Just to spend it all on Beer and Blow. Chorus Wish your life away. You always wish your life away. Your back may be broke And your sweat made of blood But for a Friday night you will wish. V2)Wednesday morning and I feel like shit So I lift up the phone and I’m calling in sick. There’s no dogsbody going in today. I’m lying around and getting stoned all day. Why must I toil for my daily bread and be Labouring slave who awakes feeling dead? Five more days of living hand to mouth. Five more days of waiting to break out. Chorus Wish your life away. You always wish your life away. Your back may be broke And your sweat made of blood But for a Friday night you will wish.

Life 101 04:48
Chorus You gotta take what lifes gonna throw you. You're gonna have to roll with the punches. you're gonna have to ride the storm out. And trouble it may come down knocking at you door. You gotta be steadfast and take it. You gotta be resolute to make it. And the Heart it always wants but all you ever get is just rose tinted memories my friend and infinite regret. Find salvation on the shoulders of your family and friends. You gotta play the hand that you've been dealt because the means justifies the end.
